extra special christmas gift..

You know I just LOVE taking photos of people. They're so fascinating. So many different types of families, individuals, personalities.. just plain DIFFERENT. I just love it. And it just so happens I'm really good at it! Truly, I am. Happy to toot my own horn on that one.

If you're still looking for a lovely, personal gift for some special people in your life, maybe a little gift certificate to make them look at themselves in photos or film is what they need.. engagements, pregnancies, new babies, just married, epic wedding anniversary, new house, leaving an old house, still have pictures hanging on the wall from ten years ago.. or JUST BECAUSE. Any kind of family or occasion and I'll shoot it. Drop me an email and we can chat.

Long session or short, stills or just film.. whatever your needs, we can work something out. Shouldn't we all have one of these to remember our lives, frozen in time, right at this moment?

We are well overdue for some updated family snaps (like the plumber with the leaky tap..) and I am VERY happy to say that this dilemma will be rectified very soon - during the holidays - YIPPEE!

the colourful kemp family

The internet is such a weird and wonderful place. I have made some really wonderful friends since diving down the rabbit hole of blogging and then, Instagram.

I found Anna in tiny, little, colourful squares. I was drawn to her instantly. Mostly because she was (and still is) my ultimate style guru. But then she began to share her raw, honest, hilarious, profanity filled tales of being - in her own words - a baker's wife and mum of four on a colourful journey of recovery from anxiety, and loved her even more. She also writes for Geelong Advertiser's GT Magazine and is an ambassador for Beyond Blue. Did I mention SHE HAS FOUR KIDS. She is beautiful, brilliantly witty, brutally honest and swears like a sailor. Just my sort. She is every colour of the rainbow rolled together in a vivid ball of life - she is, Colour Me Anna.

Anna's beautiful family is merely an extension of her authentic, vibrant demeanour. A loud mash of love and truth.

I'll share the full stills collection of the Spurling+Kemp family soon.

meet the densmores

One Sunday morning, back in the middle of a Melbourne winter, I spent the morning with some dear friends. Some of my most favourite people on the face of the planet.

Kate and I met over ten years ago when we were both legal PAs in a big, fancy, stuck up law firm. She had just said goodbye to her new fiancé, as he set off for a six month deployment at sea. She planned the wedding while he was away. It wouldn't be the last time he was sent away for half a year.

Kate had been saying for the past year.. We must get you over to take our photos! The kids are getting so big! Kate struggles to say no - to anything. She is one of the busiest people I have ever known. We tried to work out dates.. the months would pass.. finally, we locked it in the diary.

It was that very morning that we realised why it had taken us so long to get ourselves sorted. Joe, their cheeky, naughty, loveable beagle, had ailments and illness creeping in over that last year. His behaviour had changed because of his condition and he was no longer the carefree Joe Joe they once knew.

Three days after our shoot, Joe passed away.

meet the herrett family

Last month I flew to Sydney to photograph some families and catch up with old friends and new. Busy and full, with a very strict schedule to fit it all in, including driving all over Sydney (no mean feat!) but my goodness was it wonderful! Sydney turned on the weather - two days of bright blue skies and sunshine warmed my bones and whisked the cobwebs away. Winter.. what winter?

I spent late Saturday afternoon with Michelle and Matthew, and their four beautiful children Aston, Stella, Archie and Lucy. Climbing trees and searching for every pipi on the beach, and swinging as the sun dipped below the horizon and we farewelled the day.

This film is sitting high up on my list of favourites - to make and to watch. I spend a lot of time on these, and so, become quite attached. I never know whether my clients will view them the same way I do.. will they love them as much as me? A little while after I had emailed it to Michelle, she responded..
'Oh Tahnee, that is soooooo beautiful, I am crying! Crying even more than I was last night when Offspring finished, and that's saying something! Thankyou SO much!!'
You can see the full collection of stills over here.

SYDNEYSIDERS >> REMEMBER I'M HEADING YOUR WAY!

Last day of term! That sigh of relief when you know the lunches don't need to be packed for over a fortnight - THE BEST!

Lazy mornings and PJ days ahead, spotted with the occasional outing, I am so looking forward to this break. That said, I'm no saint, and by the end of the holidays I will need 48 hours alone. ALONE. So I'm jumping on a plane to go and photograph some lovely folks; some I've met, some I haven't. I love meeting new people this way. I've got room for one more session while I'm there, possibly two if I can do a bit of squeezing.. so let me know.

I'd love love LOVE to give you a bunch of awesome photos to remember your family at this moment in your lives. Because you're awesome. And sometimes we need to be shown just how awesome.

meet the mckenzie family

Ingrid, Gary, Hannah and Kian were complete strangers to me as I knocked on their front door. They treated me like an old friend. See more of them over here.
