esther

Every man and his dog has an Elf on the Shelf. Us too. Her name is Esther and she's fun to have around this month.

On the weekend, Esther's list of daily tasks grew a little.

Watch children all day.
Smile and look sideways. All day.
Decide whether children have been naughty or nice.
Wait for nightfall.
COLLECT MAIL FROM SANTA'S PERSONAL POST BOX.
Fly home to North Pole to deliver mail and naughty/nice verdict for the day.
Share an eggnog with fellow elves.
Fly back to our place and hide somewhere new for children to find in the morning.
Repeat.

Esther must cat nap during the day because I cannot see another option for getting in some shut eye. She's good at her job. So far she hasn't missed the post once. And she has definitely been found in a new hiding place every morning. Some mornings it has taken over an hour to find her. I hope she continues in this fashion. Last year she got a bit lazy the closer we came to Christmas Eve and she was found in the same place two days in a row. A handful of times. Slack I tell you.

Cute as a button post box - $4 from The Reject Shop! So much fun watching the kids scribble notes and drawings to Santa throughout the day and then go and post them! Santa even wrote back after receiving his first delivery. A lovely new Christmas tradition in our home.

  1. That everywhere elf scares me senseless. I have no idea why!

Love your little mailbox, though. What a sweet thing it is. x
