There's a special bond between these two. His Pa is everything. When Pa comes to stay, all his Christmases have come at once. And when he ducks out the front door without him, my poor darling just cannot be consoled. This is the part that breaks my heart about the distance between here and there. Between them and us. As the kids grow older, the bonds grow stronger. If our lives were lived side by side, there would be sleepovers and play dates, beach visits and birthdays. There will come a time when these things will be enjoyed - side by side. Just a short drive away, rather than a short plane flight away. We just have to make sure it's sooner rather than later.
