when grammers collide

[DISCLAIMER :: obscene amount of photos of farm animals and children below displayed purely for the adoration of children's mothers. And my dad. Who never reads the actual posts - just looks at the pictures of his grandchildren every day. Love you dad.]

I love Instagram. It's different to other social media platforms. No whiney status updates or requests for 1000 likes so you can buy a new raincoat for your cat. Just lovely snaps of people's everyday, some famous, most not - accompanied by short, thoughtful, often humorous captions. What a fabulous, (mostly) happy way to stay in touch with friends, loved ones and, er, total strangers. Hurrah!

I don't remember when I started following Erin - aka @thestuccobungalow - but I'm pretty sure it was very early on in my insta journey. She is clever and quirky, and just plain hilarious. She has a unique style of posting and I was drawn to her immediately. She has a beautiful eye for capturing a great moment. She's one of those total strangers I was talking about. That lives on the other side of the world. But we totally love her husband because his work made him come over to Australia. To Melbourne. And he brought the whole family with him. What are the odds..?!

So I gathered some other friends, proper ones - whom I'd met before - that live in Australia - and we all made our way, from every direction across Melbourne, to that lovely little farm in the middle of the city. The weather was nothing short of superb - I actually got a little sunburnt on my neck! We wandered at kid pace, stopping to pat and chase the animals, or just each other, nurse bumped and bruised little bones and wipe away tears, enjoy delicious coffee and yummy homemade morning, lunch and afternoon tea, finishing the day with baby chinos for the smalls - a first for Erin's three beautiful children.

We all headed home into the late afternoon sun, tired, dirty and happy.

Thankyou so much for sharing your day with us Erin. You and your children are utterly delightful. We all chatted so easily, swapping stories and hearing what life is like on the other side of the globe. So proud that you now know how to order proper, REAL coffee! And of course, as kids do, they all played happily together as if they'd done it all before. Safe journey home my friend! x

*Milina! I'm so sorry, I was laughing so hard at the kids while we were taking the group shot, I didn't even notice Mila was hidden behind Eliot! Oops.. x

  3. You've captured the day magically. And I couldn't agree more with your sentiments. There are too many favourite a in here to mention.
Haha, no worry about Mila being snuck behind. At least there wasn't one of her face plant, back bend as she fell off. It's amazing how these kids can bounce! I do love her little face as she's kissing Eliot though. So her! xx
