SEND HELP! IMMEDIATELY!

You may have noticed my new header over the last few days. I wanted to inject a little more colour into my little space now that we are heading into the brighter, warmer months. I have rarely had any trouble with Blogger and getting it to do what I want - with plenty of googling for CSS and HTML template change advice, of course. But right now there is steam coming out of my ears and my head feels like it's about to explode. BOOM.

All I want to do is change my header/link/footer colours.. too much to ask?!! I don't remember it being so difficult! My general template is allowing me to select colours on that grey strip when you go in to customise your template designer, but won't apply it. CSS and HTML codes I have used in the past for simple changes are not working either. I have googled and googled and googled... and still my blog is a higgledy piggledy mess of colour where nothing matches. The OCD in me is in total meltdown.

I am beginning to think perhaps I am just a complete dumbarse! If you can point me in the right direction of tutorials for correct CSS codes for such a ridiculously simple task - I WILL BOW AT YOUR FEET! And probably kiss them too. That is, if my head hasn't already blown off.
